Fix Audio Issues in Android Smartphones – No Sound from Headphones and External Speaker

You can connect an external speaker to your Android smartphone using a compatible speaker. However, while doing this you may face a problem with the audio. You may see that no sound is coming from headphones or external speakers connected to your mobile phone.
This problem can happen with any brand of smartphone including the Samsung Galaxy series, Sony, Xiaomi etc.
If you are facing a similar problem and no sound is coming from your Smartphone then here I have a few solutions to fix this problem.

Fix No Sound Issue in Smartphone

First thing first, don’t bash your phone against the wall or shake it to make it work. Your frustration with the problem will only worsen the issue.
There are several reasons why the audio may not be working on your smartphone. So, I have listed all the possible fixes to fix no audio problem in Android devices.

Restart Your Mobile Phone

The first solution for this problem is to restart your Smartphone. At times, a simple restart can fix several issues.
  1. So, press and hold the Power key and select Power off.
  2. Once the phone is off, remove the back cover and then remove the battery.
  3. Wait for a minute and then reinsert the battery and restart your phone.
After the restart, try to play any audio file on your smartphone. This can fix no sound problem on your phone.

Remove SD Card and Reinsert

If your smartphone has an SD card inserted, then removing it and then reinserting the SD can fix the no sound problem for you.
  1. First, turn off your smartphone and let is shut down.
  2. Now remove the battery and eject the SD card.
  3. Reinsert the SD card into your Phone and restart it.
Once the phone is up and running try to play any audio file and you should hear the sound coming out of your smartphone.

Restart Mobile Phone Headphones Connected

Some of the users who had audio issues with their smartphone were able to fix the problem by this simple trick.
Connect your headphone or external speaker to the smartphone and turn it off.
Restart your smartphone while the headphone is still connected to your smartphone. If everything went right, you should be able to hear the audio from your smartphone through headphones now.

Change or Replace SD Card

It is possible that your SD card is causing the audio issue with your phone. What you can do is try to insert a different SD card and then try to play the audio. If the problem is with your SD card then replacing it should work.

Clean Cache Partition in Recovery Mode

You can clean the cache data from the Recovery Mode to fix the audio issues on your smartphone. Here is how to do it.
  1. Turn off your phone.
  2. When it is off, press and hold Volume UP Key + Home Key + Power Key.
  3. When the phone vibrates, leave the Power key, but don’t release the Home key and Volume up key.
  4. Release those keys when you see the Recovery Mode Menu.
  5. Press Volume Down key to choose “Wipe Cache Partition”.
  6. Press the Power key to select it.
After wiping cache partition, reboot the phone to normal state and see if that has resolved the audio issues on your phone.

Reset Your Mobile Phone

So, if nothing seems working, you can try to reset your smartphone to its factory default. It is easy to reset your Android smartphone by following these steps.
Note: These steps are for Android 6.0 running smartphones. If you are running latest or older version of Android OS then look out for a guide on how to reset your Model specific Android smartphone.
Note: Take a complete backup before resetting the Android phone.
  1. Unlock your Android phone and go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down to System and Devices and tap on Additional Settings.
  3. Under Additional Settings tap on Backup and Reset.
  4. Tap on Factory Data Reset option.
  5. Tap on All files on the phone and then confirm the decision.
Now your Android phone will reset to factory settings. Once the factory reset is complete, try to play the audio on your phone using Headphone or external speaker and see if the issues are fixed.

No Sound Because of Hardware Issue

If your phone has no audio, it can be because of the hardware issue on your smartphone. In such cases, it is better to take the smartphone to an authorized service centre who can fix your phone for free if it is under warranty.
